This problem is very annoying and it criples my productivity. No freeze so far, however I’ve made a bunch of file operations. It manages windows, gives me a menu, and stays out of my way so I can do interesting things. Until a reliable solution comes up I work with Caja as a second possibility of file managing. Every user gets their own set of cron jobs called a crontab so you don’t need any particular privileges to do this unless your machine’s really locked down. Unfortunately you are right, There is no clear steps to get a freeze. Since I found installable.

Then the task manager sends a message the program is not responding.
It must be related pcmznfm. MarkF az wrote on Sadly I have to report that just updating pcmanfm does not solve my crashing problem. It’s another GTK application. Agreeing with Ben I can confirm the situation.
I did that thinking it might fix my GIMP crashes which began with 2. It does not suffer this problem because as suggested in the last few comments, the problem seems to be related to GTK and particularly GTK2.
Thunar needs Thunar-data 1. The way I installed Samba for enable and handle sharing is: Dear cgarciang, Not libmenu-cache but menu-cache is the correct package name. There is an easier way to automate Random Wallpaper: Even if I close the terminal window, the pcmanfm window launched from that terminal stays open.

Hopefully when it closes, the terminal will have some helpful messages to show. I tried a few of the old standbys like feh and nitrogenbut they didn’t seem to work.
Dear Walter, Just a little addendum. I woul like to help but I’m not sure how to do ranvom. For the Ubuntu the version after official is 1. It looks like you’re new here. Could have been I tried to google the problem, but didn’t find anything relevant.
There is no any rule of freezing.
Thanks for the bug report. Sign up using Email and Password. However, my concern is where the upstream is.
I checked the strerr, but pcmznfm is no error at all. Ok, so at least several filesystems do have this problem. Thanks for your kind answer, Best regards, Janos.

But it is not a solution. So here I am with the test result. Can we confirm that Thunar doesn’t have the problem in the Cosmic version? I continue testing for some days, I will write my experiences. It manages windows, gives me a menu, and stays out of my way so I can do interesting things. I tried, like Janus mentioned, to install pcmanfm 1.
And you say you have the old libfm which utterly shocks me.
